This report deepens the knowledge of citizen participation tools in other metropolitan areas of Europe and the participatory system in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, in order to advance in the definition of the bases for the development of an architecture of citizen participation in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
To do this, the report analyzes the mechanisms of participatory democracy in the metropolitan areas of France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Portugal and Germany and the analysis of citizen participation tools in the metropolitan area of Barcelona: the participatory processes of the Metropolitan PDU, PREMET25 and PMMU, the Collserola Park participation promotion program and the participation bodies of the Metropolitan Economic Development Agency.
Finally, based on the analysis of European cases and the tools of the metropolitan area, the report presents lessons learned and areas for improving participation for the AMB.
