Aquest treball contribueix a l’anàlisi de la convergència sigma i beta a les regions europees durant el període 2000-2019. Aquest tipus d’anàlisi s’ha realitzat tradicionalment utilitzant els nivells de PIB regional per càpita ajustats amb les paritats de poder adquisitiu (PPA) nacionals i fent ús de les mesures clàssiques de convergència beta i sigma. Les principals contribucions d’aquest estudi són l’ús de PPA regionals per ajustar les xifres de PIB regional per càpita i la definició d’una nova mesura per a la convergència beta. Aquesta nova mesura ajuda a superar la paradoxa observada entre la convergència sigma i beta durant el període 2008-2019.
